Cognosos Joins LoRa Alliance to Speed Adoption of LPWAN Solution for Automotive Industry
ATLANTA – AUG. 14, 2017 – Cognosos, a supplier of managed IoT services for enterprise applications, has joined the LoRa Alliance™ as an adopter member.
The LoRa Alliance is an open, non-profit association of members helping to drive the success of the LoRaWAN open global standard for secure, carrier-grade Internet of Things (IoT) Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWA) connectivity. Cognosos’ patented RadioCloud® system increases range and reduces power requirements for wireless devices in LPWA networking, using software defined radio (SDR) technology to move physical-layer processing into the cloud. Cognosos is integrating LoRa technology into its networking products – initially focused on automotive dealerships, auction sites and port authorities – for interoperability with LoRa-compatible sensors.
“Large-scale automotive points of distribution and sale are perfect candidates for LPWA solutions, and adding LoRa compatibility to our RadioCloud platform will be key to widespread growth,” said Cognosos Chief Technology Officer and RadioCloud inventor Jim Stratigos. “We look forward to working with other Alliance members to provide a variety of LPWA services for our customers.”
Cognosos has created “sensing as a service” IoT solutions since 2015. Its RadioCloud® LPWA platform represents a new paradigm in the enterprise Internet of Things (IoT), reducing the cost of reliable connectivity below competing wireless technologies while greatly expanding range. The first Cognosos managed service to incorporate RadioCloud is RadioTrax™, a fully managed, end-to-end wireless sensing solution for real-time automotive inventory tracking within dealerships, auction locations and port authorities.
