How to Increase Processing Power at Vehicle Distribution Centers

Changing supply chain dynamics are putting more pressure on VDCs to improve processing scheduling and visibility. Glovis America’s Darren Acker discuss innovations with Cognosos’s Adrian Jennings.

Low vehicle inventory and the shift to a build-to-order model are redefining the critical roles of vehicle distribution centres and processing terminals. But these centres can also be a ‘black hole’ when it comes to both visibility and predictability in ETAs.

In this session, Glovis America’s Darren Acker and Adrian Jennings from visibility specialist Cognosos share how OEMs and processors are reducing dwell time by optimising scheduling and loading based on geography and transport capacity across road and rail. They discuss visibility and tracking solutions, as well as investing in infrastructure and technology to better equip these terminals, and strategies to mitigate shortages in parts and accessories.

Watch this session to hear about the latest investments and how new state-of-the-art facilities are upping the processing power of outbound logistics.
